guest room redo {the plan}

here's some thoughts i have...
currently have a homemade cornice board made of this fabric:
i bought it as a remnant during a huge sale at a local fabric store. i thought that it was bright and fun and PERFECT for a homey guest room.

the brown swatch in my board is called woven mystery from valspar. our walls will be this color with white trim.

i have this night stand & dresser bought for a few dollars at the habitat restore & on craigslist. obviously neither are anything fancy but with a good coat of light light blue paint & new clear glass hardware they should be spruced up a bit!
this chair was sitting on the side of the road so...FREE. i'm going to make a new drop seat for it with a sweet & subtle fabric. maybe something like the pink & white houndstooth from the board. i don't actually mind the green paint that is on it now but i don't know if it will make it to the room or not.
i bought these cards from skippy designs on etsy and i think that i will frame them in white frames with linen mattes. i think that will pop off the 'woven mystery' paint. they are so sweet and dainty. if you click on the pick you can see them closer up. i've got the whole set & can't wait to show them off!
we have a queen sized bed in the room with no headboard or footboard. i would love to do a little diy project with wood, batting, fabric and maybe nailhead trim to create a pretty headboard for the room. in order to have funky fabric on the window & accent pillows as well has light blue painted furniture i think that we need so crisp & bright white bedding. not to mention that i LOVE white beds, i think they looks so cozy! i love the PB white tuxedo bedding show in the mosaic but they no longer carry it. they DO have it in ivory ON SALE and it is super limited.

the green in the invitation is what i was thinking for my big shams on my white bed to make it seem a little less girly. i also LOVE the inspiration bedroom with the blue headboard, green pillow, white bedding and brown & white polka dot bench. some of those colors would need to be modified a little to fit our room but i love the design!! additionally, i would love to use a trellis print {i'm obsessed} in a bright color as a small accent pillow in the room - or maybe use the fabric in a couple frames as some bright art.

i love white and with browish-walls i feel like i can have a lot of it! i think we will use some white lamps and frames {as i said before}, white vases filled with bright flowers, maybe even some white antique-ish bowls to hold little treasure to place on the dresser.

i redid a free chandelier to hang in our dining room by spray painting it white, it turned out perfectly but i don't think that the wiring is up to par so i may repurpose the precious fixture as a way to hang long necklaces & sit bangles around the base of some 'candles'. the only question that that idea leaves me with is...what do i do with the real lighting in there is i already have a chandelier hang in there with a different purpose?

painting is first on the list, the walls & the trim in the room. next comes hanging the cornice board. following that project will be refinishing the furniture that is now sitting in the garage. get new bedding & accent pillows. hang artwork. ta da! ready for friends!
